I struggled with regret and shame for too long
In my early 20’s I choose something that I said I’d never do. I chose to abort my first child. That choice also lead me to be passionate about something I also thought I would never do, counsel. My heart is to come alongside women who may be suffering silently, especially women who’ve experienced an abortion. My mission is to graciously speak God’s truth to suffering women so they can heal and live for God’s glory.
Hi, I’m Lesley
First and foremost, I love Jesus. He became my Lord and Savior when I was about 10yrs old. When He did, I became passionate about living for Him and serving Him. I truly believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. His grace is sufficient for me and I will always gladly boast of Him and His great love.
I’m a Chicago city girl who married a Minnesota farm boy who now lives in the country just outside of Green Bay. We met in college and I was totally oblivious to his pursuit of me (which was half the fun for him).
Dave and I celebrated our 37 wedding anniversary this past January. We have 3 adult kids who have some amazing spouses! We’ve been blessed with 5 grand babes and one grand pup. In June of 2024 we will welcome one more grand babe! Our oldest two kids live within 10 minutes from us which means we get to see them lots. I also get to watch my grand babes while the mama’s work. I am abundantly grateful for the family the Lord has given me. (See my kids and grand babes below)
When I’m not watching grand babes or taking care of all the things in our home, I’m either counseling or writing. My passion is to help silently suffering Christian women overcome shame from her secret abortion so that she can walk in the newness of life that is found only in Jesus Christ. I am deeply passionate about walking alongside these women, especially if it was a decision they never anticipated making.
It is my firm belief that healing from shame and regret is attainable through the application of Biblical truths to the life of the post-abortive woman. The same is true for any woman who is silently suffering from any shame or regret, currently or in her past.
Helping women transform their pain and suffering into a testament of God’s unfathomable glory is one of the greatest things to watch. If He can transform my shame and He can do it for you.
Things I thought I’d Never Do
I never thought a guy would like me enough to want to marry me. (Guys weren’t really interested in dating me.)
I was never going to have sex outside of marriage but I did.
I was never going to choose to have an abortion, yet I did that too.
I never thought that I’d have more than one child but God gave me 3 amazing kids.
I was never going to counsel; even though I graduated with a BA in Psychology. But God’s voice clearly came through one day and He whispered to me that He wanted me to use my most sinful choice for His glory.
I also never thought I’d go on for more school after college, but I did. It only took me 8 years but I got my Master’s in Biblical Counseling.
I also never thought I would get certified through one of the large organizations within the biblical counseling world. In 2010, I became a Certified Biblical Counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).
I also never thought I would have kids that lived close to me! I also never could have imagined that I would be so blessed as to have 5 grand babes and that I would get to watch them while their mama’s went to work.
